Adsevona supports relatives in Amsterdam Zuidoost and works with studioplay® to break the taboo around legacy within the Surinamese community.
At studioplay®, I often get the privilege of helping entrepreneurs shape their brand identity. When Nico, an old acquaintance of mine, wanted to convert his expertise in cybersecurity into his own platform, he asked me to create a visual identity for his new application. This tool helps individuals protect themselves against phishing emails by building a type of social phishing protection through collaboration and reporting risky messages.
Nico already had experience with design, but decided to completely surrender to me for this project, so that the platform would look professional and sleek. During our Studioplay® sessions, we discussed his vision and ideas. I placed hundreds of post-its on a blank wall, showing him different creative directions. This gave Nico the space to make choices and help him think about the direction of his brand.
Although the sessions were playful and friendly, we kept the focus on professionalism. We explored different color palettes and visual styles, with Nico ultimately opting for a sustainable look with natural shapes and colors. He deliberately wanted to deviate from the traditional business blue that is often used in the cybersecurity sector.
Our collaboration not only helped Nico establish a strong brand identity, but the process also gave him more insight into himself as a professional. He learned where he stands and what he expects from his work, which further prepared him for the market.
Nico recommends that others also take this journey and put the creative process in the hands of a professional for the best results.
